Absinthe Jailbreak Downloaded 1 Million Times in 24 Hours

The Chronic Dev Team released their Absinthe Jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 last Friday and it was downloaded over 1 million time in less than 24 hours. This was also only the Mac version, since the Windows version wasn't released yet. According to Musclenerd 250,000 of those that Jailbroke were newly Jailbroken devices. This goes to show just how popular Jalibreaking has become and that people are still seaking full control of their devices. Do you have an iPhone 4S or iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1 and haven't decided to Jailbreak yet?

iOS 5.0.1 is out! Don't update if you want a Jailbreak

Apple has now released iOS 5.0.1 to the public, you can download it through iTunes or soon probably an over the air update. If you want to keep that tethered jailbreak or would like to have iOS 5 jailbroken soon I suggest you do not update just yet. It may be a while before the iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak happens. iOS 5.0.1 is supposed to fix the battery draining issues so maybe its worth losing the Jailbreak to you.

pod2g Finds Bug in iOS 5 for Untethered Jailbreak

Last night pod2g posted the tweet above saying he has now found a bug in iOS 5 that will allow to ge the untethered jailbreak working. He didn't specify if this will jailbreak all devices including the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. I'm guessing since its an iOS 5 bug it should work on all devices. Now don't forget Apple released iOS 5.0.1 for developers the other day and it is exepect to be released to the public anytime in the next few weeks. This means he will most likely wait until iOS 5.0.1 is released until he puts out the Untethered jailbreak or else Apple will just patch the bug in the update. Stay tuned for updates on the iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak.

Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 Update Jailbreaks iOS 5.0.1 beta

Yesterday Apple released iOS 5.0.1 to developers and the next day we already have a jailbreak, but of course it is tethered. Which means you will have to have to plug your device up to your computer and run a program to reboot (turn it off and back on) your device. This is also the option of doing a semi tether when rebooting your device though, which will reboot you into a non-jailbroken state if you done normally. Check inside for download links and which devices this jailbreak supports...
