How to Jailbreak iOS 5 b7 & 4.3.5 (tethered)

This is a guide on how to jailbreak iOs 5 beta 7 and 4.3.5 tethered, which means you will have to rejailbreak if you want to turn your device off and back on. I would suggest you wait until the official iOS 5 is released and it has an untethered jailbreak. This works for all devices EXCEPT iPad 2. You can find the guide inside, if you have any issues leave a comment below.

Step 1: Download the new Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 for Windows (direct link) or Mac (direct link).

Step 2: In order to just jailbreak your iOS device, simply click on “Jailbreak” button and follow the standard onscreen instructions to enter DFU mode in order to install Cydia on your device.

If you are not using any Beta firmware (like iOS 5), Redsn0w 0.9.9 will automatically fetch all the important bits from the required firmware files without bothering you to download those large IPSWfiles.

If you are using iOS 5 Beta firmware, you will need to provide the .IPSW firmware file manually.

Step 3: That’s it! You are done with the jailbreak. Optionally, you can use extra features found under “Extras” option. This includes options such as entering DFU mode, booting in tethered mode (required by all tethered jailbreaks: iOS 4.3.5, 4.3.4, iOS 5), fetching, verifying or using SHSH blobs, changing boot logos and more.

Is there any update on how to unlock 4.3.5 without downloading all the other programs? The creator of tinyumbrella can't seem to figure out how to get it working on windows 7 64 bit so at the moment I'm kind of screwed.

@Paul, you can downgrade your iPad to 4.3.3 without having saved your SHSH. Google "downgrade to 4.3.3 without saving SHSH" and you will find easy directions using Sn0wbreeze to build a custom ipsw.

Spent 4 hours and multiple attempts at unlocking with 4.3.3 and 4.3.5. I used snowbreeze to create a custom IPSW that would also change baseband to 6.15. In the restore process is brought up error 37. Seems no matter what method/guide I use there is always some sort of Itunes error. I give up.

Ok, I'm running 4.3.5 on a phone that has never been jailbroken or unlocked before. I have no SHSH blobs for this phone.

I'd like to UNLOCK the phone to use my T-Mobile SIM. Can this be done or am I screwed and have to wait for a 4.3.5 unlock?

Whats your baseband? Most likely you will have to buy a GEVEY SIM Card.. You can get one off ebay for like 10 dollars, unless your baseband is 1.59 which you can unlock using ultrasn0w.

My baseband is 04.10.01. :( So either I wait for a 4.3.5 unlock or get a GEVEY SIM?

yeah, i have the same baseband, theres no unlock for that right now, other than gevey.. its been a long time too so I don't see ultrasn0w working for sometime.. I would just invest in the sim plus you can use it for any phone any ios any baseband.
