updating to 3.1.2 help

Ok for some reason I cannot update my Iphone 3g to 3.1.2. Im jailbroken on 3.1 right now and Ive got no problems with my phone I just wanna update to the newest firmware. So I've tried updating my 3g with Apple and get errors..Ive also tried dowloading a custom ISPW and doing restore+shift. Also same errors...and also after I get the errors my phone gets stuck in recovery loop..even if I restart it....plz help i just wanna update guys!:(

Put it into dfu mode connect device to itunes then turn off completely. Now hold the power and home button down for 10sec., release the power button keep holding the home button until a message appears saying you must restore device. At this point do the shift+click and select firmware.

By the way you use recovery mode if you are using custom firmware.
