Wireless SSH & VNC

I was hoping that someone would be able to post a guide on the steps it takes to configure port forwarding on your router to accomplish a wireless ssh session via my home network. I would also like to use VNC from outside of my home network to access my server. I was also wondering if it is worth buying Jaadu, or if any of the free apps work just as good?
