Hello, I don’t really understand forums and this is my first time using one. I apologise if this is in the wrong section but I would really appreciate anybody’s assistance.

I am trying to jailbreak my ipod touch. I have no idea what 2G means or what alot of it means. I have downloaded the 3.0 software through iTunes for my iPod Touch and attempted to follow several guides. I am using the application redsn0w .8 and when I need to browse and choose iPod2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore redsn0w indicates that it is unable to recognise the specified IPSW.

I have searched for this error using google and I have tried all of the suggestions that I could understand however I still recieve the same error at this stage. I am really frustrated as it took me 8 hours to download the 3.0 update because it kept timing out. If somebody could please walk me through what I am doing wrong step-by-step or how to correct this I would really appreciate it.

If you cant download blackra1n go to google and search it. The first thing that comes up is black weather. Click on that, then choose mac or pc. Your download will start.

How long would it take before I could jailbreak it, and if you aren’t planning on making a jailbreak, is there any way I can safely downgrade it to a 3.1.2?

@Bethany there is no need for a video to JB 3.1.3 because all you need is redsn0w and then have 3.1.3 installed but also have 3.1.2 on your desktop. as soon as redsn0w asks you to locate your firmware you tell it you have the 3.1.2 on your desktop and it will do it the same… HOWEVER check on the dev teams (google them) website to see if your device is covered if it is the 3G you r golden

Hi Ty, having an issue with Pawnage 3.1.4, Blackra1n, Redsn0w .8 when trying to jailbreak the itouch 2G with 3.0. installed. Running a Mac G4 PB. The programs all leave the ipod frozen and I have to restore via iTunes. With Redsn0w I get to the install Cydia and turn off power, get the screen black and then redsn0w shows waiting to reboot for hours. When I try to do the restore via iTunes it states it cannot restore and then redsnow shows activity and then Done hi-lites. Clicking DONE it closes and then the usb and itunes icon show on the iTouch but it freezes again and won’t reboot. Any help?
