iPhone OS 4.0 Is coming make a wish! I just wanted to see some insight from the Ty’s iPhone Help viewers on what you guys think should be in the new iPhone software 4.0. 5 icon dock (cuz i like to have my ipod on my dock along with phone,mail,text,safari), more customization features, multi-tasking, speech recognition, ability to support flash, ability to tether with my macbook, IM, google turn-by-turn directions

well, it would be better if it had some sort of grip on the sides and maybe a differant colour such as say silver

I would like the ability to put my phone on VERIZON. A bit far out, but I can dream. Also, for those unjailbroken ones out there, change themes, wallpapers and such.

I would like to see less intrusive message alerts like on the Droid, where they pop up in the status bar and then go away. I don’t need a giant thing ringing in my face to know i have a message, and i definitely dont want to quit what I’m doing. Also, my lock screen should show alot more information than just the time and date. It should show email messages, text messages, missed calls, and not only until i unlock. and one more major thing, a cooler home screen, like on the htc, that thing is crazy! The weather animations are awesome, and the widgets on the HTC really outweigh what you can do on the iPhone.

I would really like to see multitasking I think it would be great if they could somehow get expose to work on the iPhone.
personally, i think the iphone’s simplicity is what apple was going for. to see a more interesting home screen would just bring down the simplicity of it all. think about it, i never owned a blackberry, and if i were to try to use one, id be totally lost until i got used to what everything is and how to get to things as quickly as possible. with an iphone, there’s no problem with that. first time users can quickly and easily navigate through the device without any problems.also, apple as been trashed on a lot about the low customization issue, for example the Droid commerical, “Everything iDont, Droid does.” so, hopefully apple will be pressured into including more customization in order to increase, or keep up, sales trends.Im sure, though, that if apple were to include customization into the 4.0 update it wouldn’t be as customizable as it is with a jailbreak. most likely, you wouldnt be ble to make your own themes, there would be set ones to choose from. id like to see a better weather app as well. maybe one where when you tap on the day, it will show you an hour by hour forecast as well. quick reply would be great too, because its very annoying when youre sitting in a waiting room playing a game, and you get a text message from someone important. will apple surprise us? or will we be let down again?

The only phones that comptete with the iPhone can run widgets, so i cant see apple ignoring the lack of customization. Full landscape would slow everything way down.. 5 icon dock would be nice. The homescreen needs something new. Because 2 years of this layout has to change.

I want to see instant push… The iphone has 100,000 applications that are mostly all great but the one thing the iphone does not have is instant push.
That is the reason most other cell phone users like me, choose a BlackBerry. You can’t tell me that the BlackBerry can do it and not the iphone. I want to be immediately notified when an alert is sent.
Until then, then i’ll have my BlackBerry and so will many other users… Instant push, not that you have to wait until you open up that application again that it notifies you. Thats wack…
Hands free dialing using Bluetooth headset would be a very good addition to the iphone 3g.

I would also love to see a new springboard. The black screen with a few app icons is very dull. How about something like the xbox dashboard? Kind of like a coverflow of apps? Other than that I agree with everyone else. Flash, file browser, etc. would all be great.

I would like to see apple allowing a Cydia like section in the app store that any developer can directly add their app to even if apple rejected it from the normal app store. But of course they would have to add a warning page to the section saying that the packages in this section could possibly harm your idevice.
I GOT A GREAT IDEA! so iphone already has a barcode scanner app what the could do is make special cd’s that have a bar code on the cd and with your iphone camera your would be able to scan the bar code and easily be able to transport all of the songs from the cd to your iPhone on the go no ITunes or computer required

I think if Apple actually let you customize your iPhone a lot of people wouldn’t jailbreak them ’cause that’s one of the reasons a lot of people do it. And that’s all Apple wants is for people to not jailbreak them. They want ALL of the power.

that meen anyone could walk into a music store and scan the barcodes like crazy. alternitavely they should have a redeem code on the inside of the cd’s. good idea though

-A way to turn the landscape on and off. That way you can play games, read e-mail and surf the web while chillin on the couch or in bed.
-Faster frame rate video. Cycorder does it fairly well but the new App store video camera app is lame-o!!!
-Don’t make us leave the app store when we download an app!!! We can still browse apps while that junk is downloading. I don’t want to see that status bar…I want to look for more apps!!

A better finder, which indexes emails by message body, not just header. I realize this would be a resource hog, so it would need to be a feature that the user could run selectively. Then, of course Flash! as many have already commented.
Springboard Addons in App store such as ’stack’. Also a notifications bar like on the android. from the status bar at the top with information such as Aim update ( well any app) SMS, RSS, youtube subscription updates. everything you’d want to be updated on. and with it being a slide down notification bar you can check when ever you want, rather than when it pops up on ya screen while ya in the middle of a game. Also Iphone 4g should have multitasking, they must have enough processing power to do that by then.
I’d like to be able to lock my screen, either vertical or horizontal so when I’m laying down in bed the screen isn’t flipping the wrong way because of the tilt …

Personally I would like to see customization. Like things that you can do whenever you JailBreak your iPhone or iPod Touch, but instead of JailBreaking it, everything is right there so that there is no Jailbreaking Required. I would also like to be able to run multiple apps at the same time possibly. Also whenever you turn the iPhone to landscape mode the whole phone,Apps and everything goes into landscape mode, so not only portrait mode but landscape as well.

Ive been wanting a customizable iPhone just like cydia with the themes and sms ringtones.i dont want to risk anything with jailbreaking and just wished the phone was customizable.

… How about technology my old Razr had – which was customizable text/voice mail… and maybe push notifications? I don’t want to jailbreak my phone and lose the warranty… So why can’t they do something that’s available in every phone? Its stupid.
