AT&T finally came through and released MMS for iPhone 3G and 3GS today. It is a free update, available through iTunes. You will need to be updated to the 3.1 firmware and using iTunes 9. This is a carrier update so it doesn’t affect jailbroken devices, so its safe to update. MMS, or multimedia messaging will allow you to send video, pictures, contacts, and even voice memo’s. So go update your iPhone and enjoy sending MMS!
Works Great For Me, Tested In After Lunch At School, Upload Speed Is Fantastic. They Def. Lower The Quality of Vids and Pics Though.
When will they release the new firmware for 3gs? I want to keep my phone jailbroken but still get 3.1 and mms

Just downloaded the carrier update for MMS, had to restart the phone, for obvious reasons, and i am trying to send pics now but it has been sitting in the sending mode for quite awhile. I am guessing its cuz a crap load of peeps are trying to send pics too. Let me know if you can shed some light on the situation. Thanks.

I am still currently running 3.0 jailbroken on my 3Gs. I know it says that it won’t effect my jailbreak by updating, but I just want to verify that I’ll have no problems.
And chiming in from Chicago… I don’t think we have MMS yet. None of my iPhone friends have confirmed it yet. (7pm Central).
To my knowledge you have to be on the 3.1 firmware to do the carrier update.
If you are on a lower firmware than 3.1 you will have to update, which will loose the jailbreak. If you are already on 3.1 jailbroken and do the carrier update it wont affect anything.
I guess I didn’t understand. I had 3.0.1 JB and did the update. No MMS and I lost my jailbreak

there is a really easy way to get mms without going through att. if you have t-mobile follow these easy steps:
First, go to Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network.
Add the following in MMS field:
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
MMS Max Message Size: leave blank
MMS UA Prof URL: leave blank
Again, this only works if you have T-Mobile. It does not work with other carriers. then restart your phone and go into text messages and the icon will be there
yeah i have the iphone 3gs 3.1 and i dont even get the the pop up on itunes for mms
I have a question. When the 2.2.1 version was out I jailbroke my phone and I was wondering on what i have to do to restore it and then upgrade to the newest update so I could get MMS? or do I noe=t need to update my jailbroken iphone 3g to 3.1 for MMS. Also i bought a brand new laptop and i havent hooked up my phone to this yet so i was wondering if I need to download a 2.2.1 firmware for itunes or does itunes have a option on to what version you can restore you phone to like 2.2.1. Yea I original comp that i downloaded 2.2.1 onto my iphone is totally broken and cant get back on that. So if you could answer my questions or give me a link to a youtube video. Thank you.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE ON 3.1 WITH ITUNES 9 TO GET MMS.
I have a jailbroken 3g on 3.0 and have mms just fine (also did this for my friend with the same phone/firmware). The only thing needed is a copy of the new carrier file (I used 5.5, but some prefer 5.2 for tethering).
All you have to do is download the file, plug into itunes, shift+click on “update”, and select the new carrier file. Once you do that it just takes a quick reboot and you’re done. Once again, no need to update to 3.1 or iTunes 9. I hope this helps.

i have a first generation iphone and i want to get mms. My iphone is on the 3.0 firmware and im hearing that you have to be on 3.1. So will that lock up my phone meaning that i have to unlock it again? And if that’s the case, do i use the same sources that you gave to unlock 3.0 firmware or is it different?

where do i download file for MMS? I see itunes but how do i get to it?
